Day 63 Friday 18th August
After a slow start we decided to head for the Cairns Botanic
Gardens. Rob was happy to go there and just sit as he had a sore toe. I loved
wandering around these magnificent tropical gardens. Many of the plants were in
flower and I took far too many photos. It was amazing to see the plants that we
have to cultivate with care in Adelaide to get them to grow, grow like weeds up
here. From here we drove down to the Cairns water-front. It is very tidal and
not very attractive as far as sitting on the beach etc but the park along the
front is great and all along here is the upmarket accommodation, markets,
shops, restaurants. We stopped at the park and had lunch. After we returned to
the caravan park we decided to go for another swim, this time trying a
different pool. Again very enjoyable.
Rob Comment: Helen had a ball in the gardens, photographing nearly very flower, so I had to share them all!!!!!!
