Day 60 Tuesday 15th August
This morning
Rob decided to play a round of golf as our lovely little caravan park is
located next to the golf course. The golf course was so green and looked pretty
good. Rob was able to hire cart, clubs and pay for the game at the reception
area of the caravan park and had the course to himself. There were a few hazards
like a deep creek and thick rainforest on the edge so I think Rob may have lost
a couple of golf balls. He said the greens were very good too. While he was
playing golf I went walking. There was a lovely botanical rainforest walk just
behind the caravan park and also a rainforest walk to the main part of the
town. It was quite beautiful, lush tropical plants and gorgeous flowering
plants. In the middle of town was a Lions Park and it again was beautifully
kept with lawn and plants. There was also a display of part of a huge kauri
tree which crashed to the ground in 2003 and then permission was given to truck
part of it in to Millaa Millaa in 2006 after cyclone Harry. I took Rob back
there after lunch to see this. We went for a lovely drive after lunch to Mungalli
Creek Biodynamic Diary. Here we did some cheese tasting and purchased some cheese
and some delicious ice-cream of course! From here we drove out to the Millaa
Millaa lookout where we had spectacular views of the Atherton tablelands. We could
also see the 2 highest mountains in Queensland. Although it was a fairly clear
we were unable to get a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean but apparently you can on
a very clear day.
