Day 40 Wednesday 26th July
We had
decided to head out to the Lawn Hill (Boodjamulla) National Park to explore the
walks and gorges. We did have a bit of a false start because we had done 10kms
in the wrong direction before I said I think we should have gone the other way.
Not to worry we got there in the end. It was still relatively early in the
morning so we decided to do Indarri Falls and Duwadarri Lookout walks. The
Indarri Falls walk was classed as moderate and to continue in a loop you needed
to incorporate the Duwadarri lookout walk which was classed as short but
difficult. The walks were well worth the effort with stunning views of the
Falls and the gorge area. The lookout was certainly very steep but Rob only
needed to help me a little during the decent. The new hip is coping really
well! After our strenuous work I was very keen to put the kayak in the middle
gorge that leads to the Indarri Falls. I was just blown away by the spectacular
scenery and as soon as I returned I insisted, that Rob should go out in the
kayak which he did. While waiting back at the canoe launching area, I spoke to
a lovely couple who had been out on the water early in the morning around 8am.
The lady showed me some spectacular photos she had taken and I made up my mind
that tomorrow I should try to be out on the water early. The canoe hiring
person (a young British back-backer) who worked for Adels Grove kindly said we
could leave the kayak and paddle with the hire canoes so we didn’t need to load
it back on top of the car. This was greatly appreciated. We returned back to
Adels Grove and had a relaxing, cool swim in the river. We are very lucky as
our tent site just happens to be about 20 metres from the swimming steps and
pontoon. Tubes and noodles are provided too.
