Day 39 Tuesday 25th July
What a great
decision we made going into Adels Grove a day earlier. This place is a
paradise. We are camped in “The Grove” a beautiful, shady area that was once a
botanic gardens from the 1930s-50s. We are next to Lawn Hill Creek a crystal
clear, spring fed large creek full of pretty waterlilies and very safe for
swimming. We have booked in for the next 3 nights and hopefully will be able to
do some of the walks and kayaking in and around the gorges in Lawn Hill
National Park. The road into Adels Grove from Gregory was pretty rough in
patches but Rob dove carefully and we made it safely here. The mechanical
repairs people were very helpful with our tyre situation and although they
didn’t have any suitable tyres here, the owner’s wife is in Mt Isa at the
moment and was hopefully going to be able to bring us a tyre when she returns
on Thursday afternoon. I went for a lovely kayak along the creek in the
afternoon. Unfortunately, the bank was quite steep and I gashed my leg against
the landing while trying to get out. Nothing serious. Just glad there weren’t
too many people watching! We went down to the restaurant and bar area before
dinner and met a lovely couple and had a few drinks and lots of talk before
returning to the tent to cook dinner….in the dark but it was fun and being here
is an experience I would not have wanted to miss.
