Day 30 Sunday 16th July
We left Oma
Waterhole and headed back to Longreach, arriving at about 10.30am. We needed to
do some washing, cleaning, shopping and general jobs around the van and so it
wasn’t the most exciting day! We decided to go to the Longreach RSL for dinner.
We had a most enjoyable meal, sharing our table with a delightful young couple
who were from New Zealand but had been working at different locations all
around Australia. She was a coach driver among other things and he was a
helicopter pilot. They are currently working out from Cairns but had worked in
Darwin, doing tours to Litchfield National Park and Kakadu. They also had
worked on the Mitchell Plateau and lived out there for 6 months. He flew the
tourist helicopter out over the falls and she organised the trips etc. There were 6 pilots and 2 organisers living
out on the plateau. They gave us great information as to some good places we
could visit over the next few weeks.
