Day 29 Saturday 15th July
Another
lovely relaxing day. In the morning we headed done to the ablutions block and
met a very nice Queensland couple who lived at Bowen. We probably chatted to
them for about an hour but there was lots to talk about and we seemed to have a
lot in common. From here we drove back to the little town of Isisford and went
for a walk along the main street. It had quite a few history display boards to
read so I found it very interesting. We visited the Discovery Centre which had
a short interesting video about the history of Isisford and also the recent
discovery of a fossilised, small crocodile like creature that lived millions of
years ago in this area. There was an excellent display of fossils and also an
explanation of how the fossil was recovered, and then reconstructed into the
model of the creature we saw. We returned to our camp and I had another lovely
kayak, chatting to the people fishing as I went down the river. In the evening
we had a fire going even though we didn’t need it but it was quite beautiful.
Rob spent the evening watching the Crows play on TV outside.
